Close Quarter Combat

R3500,00

CQC is the acronym for Close Quarter Combat (also sometime referred to as CQB – Close Quarter Battle).  Close combat is as old as man – from the very first we have fought each other for food, territory or personal gain.

It became a virtual science in the 1940’s, when 2 remarkable men returned home to England after a long service in China, where both served in the Shanghai Municipal Police (SMP).  These two men were Eric Anthony Sykes and William Ewart Fairburn (Generally referred to as Fairburn & Sykes).

During their service in the SMP, they were involved in more than 600 armed confrontations, ranging from gang wars to full-on gun battles.  During these years they gained valuable experience in close combat, and on their return to England, were taken on as Captain Instructors at the Special Training Center at Lochailort in Scotland.

Here they taught instructors their unique, simple, direct and devastating techniques to enable the British to take the fight back to the Nazi’s.  They taught skills and, perhaps more importantly, confidence and self esteem, with a mindset of attack, or in worst case counter attack.

What do we offer?

We offer training using the same principals as Fairburn & Sykes: Simple, Effective & Devastating techniques, with a mindset of Attack, rather than defence.  (“There is no possible victory in defense, The sword is more important than the shield… – John Steinbeck)

CQC (or any hand to hand combat or self defense type training) should be practiced over a period of time (although the techniques taught can be applied effectively almost immediately). The development of hand-eye-coordination, physical conditioning, neurological development and the winning mindset does take a couple of weeks to reach effective levels (varies from person to person), therefore we are running our courses over 12 weeks rather than seminar-type events.

Basic CQC Training (Unarmed)

The basic CQC course is run over 12 weeks, twice per week for 1.5-2 hours. The course consists of the basic principals & techniques of H2H fighting, targeting, flow patterns, psychological preparation, awareness, physical conditioning, sparring, etc. Emphasis are placed on offence, rather than defense. At the end of this course the student will be able to deliver effective techniques in an offensive manner on static as well as dynamic targets.

We kindly invite you to attend one of our introduction classes and experience what CQC is all about.
